About a year and half ago I had a kidney transplant and since then I have been needing to sell my business.

My business is a home based distribution company that sells to several fortune companies. I have been in business appox. 6 yrs and have been profitable from the get go in the 6 figures.

The problem is that people I have spoken to say that because the business is relationship based it will be hard to sell. I don’t get it becasue all service business’s are relationship based and when a owner sells it is usually mandatory or standard to sign a non-compete for a couple of years and to offer consulting for a period of time.

It is a one man operation and perfect for someone who wants to work from home and make approx 6 figures annually. Business has books that are kept by a licensed CPA and tax returns to prove success.

Any ideas? Please don’t respond unless you really know what you are talking about. I really need out for medical reasons.

You’ve probably already thought about advertising in the newspaper or on craigslist.

You might contact your Chamber of Commerce about it.

I’m thinking there must be agents for this kind of thing, like real estate agents but for businesses. Perhaps someone who does management consulting would either act as such an agent for you or give some ideas.

I don't know much about them. I do know about the company I deal with and it's awesome.

The only legit work from home business I have found is the one my wife and I do. It's well established and, you can make a nice income (even 6 FIGURES a year)!

My wife and I both have a home based business, that we do part time and make any where from $800 to $1500 a month just working part time from home. Raising the price is a good strategy for you now, because it will both reduce demand to a level that you can handle, and increase your profit on each unit. Ultimately, after you've made more money doing it, you'll be in a better position to grow your facility because you'll have saved more money.

No, you are two separate people, and your return if you file one will be separate from hers. Each return will report income and other items for that person only.

I think your missing the bigger picture. The real benefit of a home based business is its ability to create a larger cash flow.

"cash flow" ..is a greater reward than some tax benefits…concentrate on cash flow.
