A business is always selling something. Be it a product or service, if you are in business, you are marketing something in some way or else it wouldn’t be a business.
I’m not sure what kind of businesses you have been involved with, but if they were money pits, then they were the wrong business for you.
Being you are a teacher with four children, that tells me that you have a great deal of experience with a large variety of topics. You could use your skills to create e-books. It’s a product, but there is no overhead for you at all. You create it, and you sell it online.
There is definitely a process to this, but you might be surprised to find out that there are tried and proven steps to follow and they are relatively simple. The income potential is truly staggering and all it costs you is a little bit of your time to write the book, get yourself a website (GoDaddy offers great sites for about $9/yr) and start building your list of subscribers. You could offer people a free sample ebook, then when they go to your page and fill in their information, you have your actual book waiting. The book doesn’t need to be long, it just needs to solve a problem.
It would take you a few weeks to learn and set up your own site, but then you would start earning money. You could write as few or as many ebooks as you like! As long as you’re solving a problem people have.
If you would like to really learn and have a step by step guide to the process, there is a book out there written by Pat O’Bryan who is partnered with Joe Vitale, one of the teachers of “The Secret”. Pat’s book is called “Your Portable Empire” and it’s available at Amazon.com. As far as I’m concerned it’s the best guide out there and it’s no-nonsense. He teaches you everything you could possibly need to know to get started, and you could feasibly get started in a day after reading the book.
I would like to find out if there is indeed any such home based jobs on the computer such as data entry, surveys that are for real also and do not keep me on the computer for hours just filling out one survey and then not receiving any prize and/or money. Also, if there is a legitimate typing home based business, which is for real and are any of these at no cost to start working? There are a few legitimate homebased businesses but they are few and far between. One great one is working for JetBlue. JetBlue's customer service reps work from their homes. Good luck!
I am looking for a way to earn extra cash from home and I was wondering if anyone had any work from home possibilities. I am not looking for any get rich quick scheme or a company thats asks you to buy a membership such as the mystery shopper scams that you pay to get a list of possibilities that are all outdated and useless. You all know those type schemes, no interest in those. I've done EBAY but am out of stuff to sell there. I am not looking to make myself rich or quit my day job but am willing to invest money on a legitimate opportunity that can net me $500-$1000 a month.

I am looking for a legitimate home base business and I cannot cross anything trustworthy.
There are many legitimate businesses you can run from home. After you've checked out the company, either at Companies House or on the Internet, ask yourself whether you'd actually buy the goods/services yourself. If not, why expect others to. They should be tangible products/services - beware the type that offer to sell lists, etc.
Do not automatically refuse to join a company that asks for money up-front, in the form of a registration fee. This sorts out those who are serious about business from those just curious. If there's an initial investment (which, according to current UK law, is no more than 200 pounds,) you tend to work a little more diligently!

Well, if you get a PhD in Psychology, you could always do therapy out of a home office. Also consider car repair, hair dresser, EBAy, and welding as home business I have seen.

I have done the ameriplan thing not my cup of tea. I sold some of course but never enough to help myself really just enough to keep me in there a few months and then when I had to give it up all my people of course went to the girl who got me into it. If you have the extra money to stick it out sure eventually you will get where you will make money cause people under you will quit but until that happens you are basically just spending money on advertising and paying ameriplan so it just didn't work out for me I am NOT a sales person…….
